CASA is a partnership between Jewish Family Service of Buffalo & Erie County (JFS) and the Erie County Department of Social Services (DSS).
JFS/CASA helps the frail elderly and disabled adults and children remain in the most appropriate, least restrictive setting by using all available community resources, informal support and formal home care service. Together, JFS/CASA nurses and DSS caseworkers help individuals and families determine Medicaid Home Care eligibility. Once qualified, we facilitate access to a complement of services to provide quality, cost effective long-term care. Staff also creates home care plans based on individual need, advises individuals and families on ways to make the home as safe as possible, and provides information on alternatives if home care is no longer a safe option.
