If you have been released from your rehabilitation program and sent home to get on with your life, where do you start? Call Jewish Family Service for the "Heads-Up Program.
The Heads-Up Program at Jewish Family Service is a social rehabilitation program for adults who have sever brain damage as a result of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) or neurological disorder (e.g. stroke, tumor, etc.).
"Heads-Up" program participants have significant cognitive, behavioral and social deficits as result of their injury. These problems often include deficits in memory, attention/concentration, gross and fine motor skills, communication, impulse control, emotional regulation and anger management, social skills, organizational skills, personal hygiene, judgment and problem solving.
The "Heads-Up" program provides a variety of social enrichment and inclusion activities to support the social rehabilitation of the consumer. These social rehabilitation activities include: physical education activities (including swimming, games, and physical fitness) adapted specifically for the physically disabled; field trips and community cultural events and local points of interest; crafts, social skills workshops and programs; and individual group and family counseling.
There is no fee for qualified participants. There is a sliding scale fee for others based on ability to pay.
