What is Adult Psycho-Day Treatment Program? Keeping seniors with mental health disorders from becoming isolated and withdrawn.
APSDP provides a transitional socialization program for elderly individuals with mental health disorders. Our therapeutic recreational daytime experience reduces the isolation and withdrawal this population typically experiences.
Interaction with other seniors is encouraged through various activities such as:
Care and share group News and current events discussions Reminiscence group Guest speakers and entertainment Field trips to movies, museums, art galleries, theaters and area senior centers. Art and crafts Transportation Nutritious snacks and lunches
Eligibility Age and the diagnosis or suspicion of a mental health disorder
You must be 60 years of age or older and have the symptoms of a mental health disorder such as depression, anxiety, or psychotic disorders. We cannot work with clients who have a primary organic mental health disorder such as dementia or substance abuse. As with all our services, APSDP serves residents of Erie County, regardless of sex, race, or religious orientation.
Philosophy Prevent psychiatric hospitalization by helping elderly individuals stay socially engaged in the community.
Our clients typically remain in the program for six to 12 months. During this time they work with our professional staff to develop the social skills and supports necessary to make a successful transition to a community senior center, other recreational activity, or volunteer activity.
Our Staff Works with each client individually to develop appropriate treatment plans, linkages and referrals.
Our staff consists of professionals with the educational background, the training and skill to successfully work with this important population.
Fees APSDP is funded through the Erie County Department of Mental Health and the United Way of Buffalo and Erie County.
APSDP provides services without consumer cost, but contributions are appreciated. APSDP
