Jewish Family Service has helped families and individuals make the transition from troubled regions overseas to a new life in America for many years. During the 1980s JFS was the lead regional agency helping to resettle Jewish Russian immigrants to Western New York.
Today, our competent and compassionate staff assists children and families from Sudan, Bosnia, Liberia and other strife-torn areas of the world begin their new life in a new country. JFS facilitates entrance into the United States, greets clients upon their arrival at the airport and provides them with food, clothing and basic shelter. Our support extends also to employment placement, ESL training, securing health care and other social support services and providing general mental and behavioral health support for what may be a difficult life transition.
